Is \; valid for escaping a semicolon and avoiding the beginning of a comment?

No, you cant escape semicolon but you don't need to if it is used inside text variable, for example text nomnom = "Banana; peel" or function("cake;chocolate") will work :) --Nemesis 14:38, 15 February 2012 (EST)
