Avoiding Dirty Edits when moving around in the Render Window[edit source]
A dirty edit can be either an accidental or intentional change to a record that could cause mod conflicts or other oddities depending on what was changed. The Render Window in my opinion can be a big source of accidental dirty edits if you don't know how to safely traverse within it. I have a short list of do's and don'ts for this sort of thing.
- As long as you don't right click on any reference, you will not accidentally create a dirty edit(it will also slightly move the reference). Right clicking on references will cause the CK to mark it as edited.
- Related to the above, you can left click on a reference as it will make it easier to orbit around it, etc.
- It is also safe to open the Reference Window for references(double left click).
- You can turn on the navmesh and use regular camera controls to move around the render window if you want to check out the meshes.
- You can't click on ANY triangle/vertex/edge, as the CK will flag the mesh as edited.
- This will not cause ANY problems with the navmesh itself, if you do this accidentally, just flag as an edit.
Crash on Exit if Render Window in use[edit source]
If you have anything displayed in the Render window, the application will stop responding when you try to close it and will have to be forced down. This needs a bug fix.
Meshes won't show in Render Window[edit source]
Anyone else having this problem? I try to place an object into the render window from the object window and nothing shows. Sometimes F5 works, sometimes switching to a faraway cell and coming back works, but 95% of the time the object just simply doesn't show up. This is extremely frustrating, as this is the most used way to build in the world (like a city or something). Can anyone help with this?
Zooming[edit source]
There is no other way to zoom in the render window besides the middle mouse button. If this button is broken, you will need a new mouse.
- Well now, there is a way to zoom with the keyboard: hold v and move mouse to zoom, hold space and move mouse to move camera. Credit: s7o. --Terra Nova2 (talk) 2015-02-22T03:54:20 (EST)
