I've been using this tutorial (except with BSAopt instead of FOMM) to create a new set of monk robes with a new texture. They show up right in Nifskope, and the gnd nifs are in game, but everything else shows up in game as just the default item (I am attempting to make a set of red monk robes, using the blue monk robes as a template of sorts). Alternate tutorial[edit source]
Some people have trouble getting various pieces of software to work on their computers. Here is the link to another retexturing tutorial that uses BSAOpt and GIMP:Skyrim Retexturing Software Tutorial. 19-pages, 21 images, 5 formats: .wps, .doc, docx, txt, and pdf. --David Brasher 21:01, 9 March 2012 (EST)
Failed[edit source]
I've been using this tutorial (except with BSAopt instead of FOMM) to create a new set of monk robes with a new texture. They show up right in Nifskope, and the gnd nifs are in game, but everything else shows up in game as just the default item (I am attempting to make a set of red monk robes, using the blue monk robes as a template of sorts). - This happened to me too. Did you make sure that you created world models, including first person, and set them all accordingly? Dbbolton (talk) 2013-02-11T15:51:45 (EST)
Red exclamation mark error[edit source]
I followed this tutorial exactly, but when I added the model to the CK, it didn't appear and I got the Red Exclamation mark sign. What exactly did I do wrong? (unsigned)
- I think this is a bug with the program. I had this same problem, but my files actually worked in game. I think the issue has something to do with the NIF files not being a part of the main mesh package or having an unexpected name. For example, my Ranger Bow was in "Skyrim/Data/Meshes/Weapons/Ranger/rangerbow.nif". At first, it loaded in the preview window, but the next time I got the same error you did, as if CK couldn't find the file. Try testing your item in-game to see if it works anyhow. Cant find compression in GIMP Save As box[edit source]
In the tutorial it says to select BC1/DXT1 in compression and select Generate Mipmaps but I cant find either one. I am running GIMP 2.8.4.--Countryboy 1989 (talk) 2013-03-20T18:25:08 (EDT)
