Excessive captchaEdit

Is there a request process for turning that off, or at least turning it way down? I'm typically forced to do two different kinds of captchas per save (one on the editing page and another that pops up after I'm redirected to a new captcha page, that has some big blather about virus checking or something, which appears completely irrelevant to anything). If I don't do them both perfectly, I sometimes have to do 5 or more, and it sometimes actually nukes the content I just added in the process; the edits just vanish after I return from the captcha-redirect stuff.

The captchas are challenging for me due to poor eyesight (I play a mostly 1K-512 Skyrim, because I can hardly tell the difference! LOL). The captcha algorithms are also terribly inaccurate (half the time they want you to pick the image segments that consist ENTIRELY of a car or whatever and ignore those that are part car and part background, and other times it seems to want every segment that contains any fraction of a car. Argh.

I'm the same user (Darklocq) on all relevant sites, like Nexus, UESP (where I've been a regular editor something like 18 mo.), wiki.OpenMW.org (about 2 years), etc. Am an admin at Morrowind Modding History/Great House Fliggerty. Also over a decade of en.Wikipedia.org under my belt (editing under my real name), where I've been the most active maintainer of several guideline pages; more than 100K non-automated edits there. I know what I'm doing and am not here to post links to penis pictures. :-)

I'm no CK expert; mostly just aiming to fix typos, clarify sentences, and insert helpful basic tips where appropriate. Darklocq (talk) 2018-10-04T09:38:55 (EDT)

If you can believe it, the captchas used to be even worse. The talk about this happened on the Fallout 4 Main Talk page. This might be as good as it gets unfortunately. The data lose on pages is really killer! Everytime I am about to click Save Page or Show Preview I will select all the text of the page and copy it to my OS clipboard. If the page fails I can re-select all the page text and paste the changes back in. I hate this so much Scrivener07 (talk) 2018-10-05T19:15:31 (EDT)
