Talk:Condition Functions

Maintaining a manual list this way works against the nature of the Wiki. Each of the function pages (now that they are created) needs to be set as a member of the category. Then after they are all on the auto-generated list the extra commentary at the top of this page can be moved over into the main category page in place of that redirect. --Cdcooley (talk) 2013-11-13T22:43:10 (EST)

I also suggest using a subcategory of "Category: Condition Functions - Obsolete" for all of the ones that are known to be unusable in the game. There's no real benefit to having one master list if some of them aren't useful, but having the broken ones documented in a subsection means they would still be found if someone searches and since subcategories are listed at the top of category pages it shouldn't be too hard for people to realize why some functions aren't listed in the main list. --Cdcooley (talk) 2013-11-13T22:47:20 (EST)

Good point. I was mostly just confused, as I didn't quite understand how the Category page was generated. Will shift it back over there. Egocarib (talk) 2013-11-14T00:14:27 (EST)
Though on second glance, it looks like 24 of the functions on this page are missing from the category for some reason. Not sure which ones they are either. I am guessing they are ones listed as Console Commands that had a page already - because I added the Condition Functions Category to all the new pages I created that weren't yet made. I originally built this list by importing the list directly from the CK editor list itself. Anyone have an idea how to find those 24? Egocarib (talk) 2013-11-14T00:23:44 (EST)

Obsolete Condition Functions[edit source]

A general remark about the dozen-or-so CFs that have a description that says they have been "marked as obsolete by Bethesda Developers":

The source of this information was the page deletion log for each page, which included commentary on why the page was deleted (this log is only viewable by admins now that the pages have been recreated, apparently). The CF pages were recently restored to create a more complete list of all CFs available in the Creation Kit, and encourage definitive commentary on whether they work or not, while avoiding the confusion induced by CFs being missing from the wiki entirely.

All the restored condition function pages were deleted by Bethesda programmers, usually with a short comment such as "no longer used." This does not mean they can't be used, as a few intrepid wiki-contributers have already proven, so feel free to remove the remarks about obsolescence on CFs that you find to still be functional.
