Preface[edit | edit source]

Please correct this page if you have further information. It is based off of limited experience, and exists to help other modders get their 1st person model into the game.

First Person Model Object[edit | edit source]

When creating a custom weapon model, you will be able to select a model in the Art and Sound tab of the weapon's properties. Below the 'model' selection box is a drop down labeled '1st Person Model Object.' If you have imported your own model in the above selector, you will need to follow these steps to use your model in first person view also.

1. In the 1st Person Model Object box, select a 1st Person Model that closely matches your weapon if one isn't already visible. Write down or remember its exact name.

2. In the Object Window, select the '*All' section, and type the name you remembered into the filter box. This should bring up a new type of file I have called the Weapon Model Object.

3. Just as you did to create your weapon in the items - Weapon section, here you will duplicate the object you have found, and customize it to match your own weapon. Set your model and re-name it so that you can find it again. IT is recommended that you keep with the traditional naming convention.

4. Back in your Weapon Properties window, toggle to another tab (Game Data or Rumble) in order to refresh the 1st Person Model Object drop-down. Now look for your newly created object.

This should allow you to use your new weapon in first person! It also allows you to use a different model for 1st person. If you have a very high poly model, it is best to make a lower poly version for the 'Model' slot. This model is only used when your object is lose in the world, previewed in your inventory or in a non-player's hands.
